end of 2009
and i haven’t blogged in months!
So life is crazy as always here in Kansas City, my parents are heading into town tomorrow to spend our first ever Christmas in KC! I am staying up REALLY late tonight to play some games with some friends… it should be awesome. Wish you were here Joanne.
I know i say this all the time, but i really want to blog more. at least weekly maybe? i don’t know.
life is short
Happy Memorial Day!
Took an early morning run/walk with my mom, then sat around getting things done on my computer, and then just got back from an early afternoon walk with my cousin! It’s so good to be back home in Ohio, only if it can last just two more weeks…
But today is a day of family celebration, at four pm my whole Blosser side of the family will gather to eat homemade vanilla ice cream and visit all our formerly-alive relatives in the local graveyards and place live flowers on their grave sites, an annual tradition. It is one of my favorite traditions! The family visit always is exciting and summery too, and the weather today is amazing. I can wait to see all my aunts, uncles and cousins!
Nathan Thomas Barger

I LOVE BEING AN AUNT!!!!

Joanne i love you
My sister Joanne told me i need to post more because she checks it often… so i want to start doing this more!!!!
love you Joanne!
AND MOM! I LOVE YOU MOM! my mom is my biggest fan:)
Oh Joy!
My class ended yesterday! I have a week off (not really, it’s the Global Bridegroom fast week, but it’s kind of like a week off because all i have is wonderful prayer room hours!!!) and then SPRING BREAK IS THE NEXT WEEK! I am pumped and primed for a week off… thank you Lord for your faithfulnness through the busy schedule!
I had an amazing day yesterday. It was the last day of class, we took a test and then our teacher let us go home early! But i stuck around to hear how he met his wife, because before he met her he was so sold on being a celibate, and now he’s married… it made for a REALLY interesting story and it took about an hour! It was great. And then because a few of us had stayed late he gave us all extra credit points! So it was much needed because i had most likely FAILED the test i took that day. Because i had a sermon to preach that same day that i had been working on all week and i didn’t get any time to squeeze in some studying. So things definetely worked out!!!! My sermon went well, I preached on the passage of John 3:27-30
“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. 28You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’ 29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.”
I spoke on the hiddenness and humility of John the Baptist, and the heart tensions within a messenger. It was good, I enjoyed being up there. I listened to it that night and it wasn’t at all clearly communicated by me as i thought it was in my head… but oh well. I just need to practice more.
So after I got out of class, i decided to just get away and go work on my paper on Paul’s understanding of Pnuematology(Holy Spirit) and Eschatology(end times) in all 13 of his epistles. So i went to a favorite coffee shop and pounded out more than half my paper! So now, this weekend i just have to finish my paper and read about 6 chapters to be completely finished with my school work for awhile! yippee!!!
So all is well.
My brother turns 20 this Sunday! we are having a pirate party for him next week at my house! ARGH matey! i am excited! walk the plank or else i will tie you up and make you swab the poop deck…
Next week there is a conference here at IHOP! I volunteered to drive the shuttle one night:) i love driving the shuttles, as i have mentioned before… YAY!!!!! It will be so stinkin’ fun.
pray for me. i have a little cold going on. unegh.
So here is an update i never got to fully mention… I used to live upstairs in the house that i live in, in my own bedroom… but now i live downstairs, with a roommate in my room (her name is Emily and she is AMAZING!) and we have our own bathroom and living area down there! it feels amazing to be a little more hidden down there, yet learning to live with someone and trying to be open and humble. It’s good for me.
What else has been happening? not much.
I am planning on doing the summer camp again this summer!
After i go home for a month BECAUSE MY SISTER IS HAVING A BABY IN MAY!!! It’s a boy! they aren’t sharing the names they have, which is ok, and i actually really enjoy them keeping it a secret… because i am going to take a guess at what they will name it and hopefully i will get it right! I am going to be an aunt again! and this time to a cute little nephew!
This has been one of the most random posts ever. i will try to keep updating it.
Happy snow tomorrow! (maybe)
Life in February
So it’s February and I haven’t posted in a really long time.
Things are going good, I started a new class called the Pauline Epistles, and it’s going well. The homework load is so much more manageable than my last class! I was literally hunkering down every waking hour on the weekends to try to CATCH UP from the week before. Not even trying or even able to get ahead, always behind. But i took my final exam in the wee early morning hours last sunday night/monday morning and it launched me into my new class. So all is well! My roommates birthday is this coming monday so we will be having a fun party for her on sunday. Oh yeah, new information update! I have a roommate now living in my room with me! I used to have a room upstairs and shared a bathroom with two other girls, but now that i wanted to share a room, i moved downstairs with her, (her name is Emily!) and me and her are the only ones sharing a bathroom as well! there is even a living room area down there, so it’s super fun!
Weather is funky nowadays. This week there has been 50 degree, 70 degree weather, and tonight it’s supposed to SNOW! talk about crazy attire switches all the time. I had to break out my gloves again…
I am sure i could go on and on for hours about how i am, maybe sometime soon. but not much time right now.
happy Valentines Day tomorrow!!!!!!!!
let the choirs sing Bethany is still living!
just wanted to randomly let you know that i am breathing. oh i am so crazy busy.
i can barely sleep.
I am going to bed at 10:30 and getting up at 4:30.
i will tell you about it in a month when that schedule changes.
but my heart is alive! and i still love Jesus!
Thunder? In December?
Really really weird. It’s pouring rain and I have heard a couple claps of thunder today! If it was colder it would be snow and i probably wouldn’t be making it back to KC tomorrow. but at least it’s rain i guess.
I hope your Christmas was amazing, my Christmas was great! Totally chillaxing. heh heh. Really laid back, i’ll tell you about it.
Woke up mom and dad super early (7:45-totally not that early actually, that’s sleeping in!) with the traditional playing of the “Zat you Santa Claus” song by Louie Armstrong extremely loud… dancing around and stuff. Thankfully my mom didn’t trick me out this year… a couple years ago she hid the cd, placed marbles all over the bedroom floor ha ha! I actually almost cried though. But this year she didn’t, thank you mom!
So i climbed in bed with them after rudely awakening them and we just kind hung out for a few hours eating breakfast and the like… Mom gave us all Christmas haircuts, then we all took showers and got ready for our one oclock party! We got there, talked to relatives and ate a ton of food. Me and my sister Leah and her husband Jordan went to their house to let their dog out and took a power nap- it was great!
We then stopped by our friend’s the Tucker’s house because their daughter Mallory and her husband Adam were in town! We spent an hour or two with them and then went to my parents house where both sisters and their husbands and my cute little neice Madison (who was actually quite pukey sick) just hung out in our jammies all night. We played this hilarious game called Quelf. For the whole of the game one of the “rules” for me (because i picked the card) was to say everything twice. For the whole of the game one of the “rules” for me (because I picked the card) was to say everything twice. Ha Ha. And then whenever i laughed I had to snort like a pig. It’s such a random game! For the whole game, Leah had to continually sing ” 99 bottles of beer on the wall”, Aaron had to act like a girl, Jordan had to wear a self-constucted snorkel upon his head, Joanne had to wear a helmet, and mom had to be a human “X” for only a little bit, not the whole game… but we had fun.
So the day after Christmas we are just hanging out, and we will go see Christmas lights tonight at Fort St. Clair!
I leave super early tomorrow to drive back to KC with my friend Michelle who is coming to KC with me for the onething conference… YAY!
I LOVE THE ONETHING CONFERENCE!
Christmas Eve!
I have been at my parent’s home in Ohio since December 14th, and have enjoyed every minute of it! It has been such a relaxing break from school and other responsibilites, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t missed being in KC:( Tonight is Christmas Eve and we will do our “normal” family traditions tonight, going to a friends house for some egg nog then back to MAKE CHRISTMAS CAROL PRANK CALLS! heh heh. it should be amazing like it always is. We all sing at the top of our lungs different christmas carols, and then hang up.
We are having breakfast food too for supper with my sister Leah and her husband Jordan! Then tomorrow should be pretty relaxed, we only have one party to attend, at around lunch time… and then we will have to begin a new tradition with our close family (because we aren’t going to Grandpa and Grandma Blosser’s house like normal, we’ve already had that party…) SO yeah, it’ll be good.
i am dreaming of a white Christmas though, no snow in sight.
Day after Thanksgiving fun times
No, i didn’t go out shopping like all the other morons (sorry if you did go out, it just think it was better to just stay at home, drink coffee and clean the house and lounge around eating homemade cinnamon rolls playing my favorite cd) anyways i wanted to let you all in on me and my friend Briana’s amazing conversation we had that morning. You may have had to been there to understand it but i laughed so stinkin’ hard tears were coming out of my eyeball holes!!! oh and this is kind of vulnerable for me to mention, so consider yourself special.
So i have this sore on the bottom of my foot. it’s been there for about a month and a couple weeks. My definition of “sore” could probably range from a wart or a corn (which is a hard painful callus) but for the sake of my own dignity i called it a corn for about a week until it started looking like a wart. either way it was so stinkin’ painful to walk around so i had to buy little cushions for it not to hurt and pray for it to go away. So anyways on the day after thanksgiving i just took a shower and soaked my foot to try to file off the dead skin around the sore to bandage it up again. Briana was helping me and she pulled out her iphone to get some information about corns (because all the pictures online made it look like i had a corn) she found this site that someone had wrote something like, “i need a real solution for my corns, i have had the same one upon my foot for more than twenty years…” I freaked out because i have only had it a month and it’s a pain in the foot. literally.
So I decided that if i have to have this corn my whole life i am okay with it, because I am for certain that the apostle Paul’s verse on his “thorn in the flesh” should have been translated “corn in the flesh” They should have double checked the language better before they placed 2 Corinthians in the canon!
2 Corinthians 12:7
“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.”
Oh Bible translators, it was definitely a “corn”. ha!
